Description
Design and development of a novel catheter based inflatable device for treatment of trauma through vascular occlusion to prevent fatal blood loss.
During severe trauma to the torso region, the state of the art primary care treatment involves blocking the aorta to prevent fatalistic blood loss through incompressible wounds: Resuscitative Endovascular Balloon Occlusion of the Aorta (REBOA).
This project aims at improving the efficacy and controllability of the occlusion through soft and semi rigid structures to alleviate the challenges of the REBOA.
